What Won't Junk Removal Take?

Affordable Junk Removal takes nearly everything, but for safety we cannot take paint, lacquer, chemicals, thinners, fuels, asbestos materials, or fuel and waste storage tanks. Here is why, and where those items go instead.

What we cannot take

Item Why
Paint and lacquer Flammable or toxic liquids that can leak and contaminate a load
Chemicals and thinners Solvents, pool chemicals, pesticides and cleaners can react, burn or poison
Fuels Gasoline, kerosene and similar fuels are a fire risk in a closed truck
Asbestos materials Old insulation, tile and siding with asbestos need specialist handling
Fuel and waste storage tanks Tanks can hold fuel residue or waste and need special disposal

These rules are about safety: for our crew, for the next people who handle the load, and for the places it ends up.

What we do take

Almost everything else: furniture, mattresses, appliances, electronics, clothes, boxes, toys, yard waste, construction debris, hot tubs and sheds. If it is cluttering a home, a yard or a business and it is not on the list above, we can most likely take it.

Where hazardous items go instead

In Orlando, hazardous waste cannot be collected at the curb by law. It goes to a free household hazardous waste drop-off at the Orange County Landfill or the Porter Road Transfer Station. The city also warns that lithium-ion batteries belong in neither the garbage cart nor the recycling cart. If you live in Seminole, Osceola or Volusia County, your county runs its own drop-off. Check the county’s solid waste page before you load the car.

Tips for garages and sheds

Garages and sheds are where most hazardous items hide. Before a garage cleanout or shed removal:

  1. Pull out paint cans, pool chemicals, fuel cans and pesticides and set them to one side.
  2. Close lids tightly and keep products in their original containers.
  3. Take them to a drop-off on your own schedule, or leave them out of the area we are clearing.

Everything else can stay where it is. Emptying the whole property rather than one room? Our estate cleanouts cover it.

More questions

Does junk removal take paint?
We do not. Paint and lacquer are hazardous materials. In Orlando, they go to a free household hazardous waste drop-off at the Orange County Landfill or the Porter Road Transfer Station.
Does junk removal take clothes and household items?
Yes. Clothes, shoes, toys, books, kitchen items, linens and boxes of household things all go with the rest of the load.
Will you take a fridge or a TV?
Yes. Appliances and electronics are not on the list of things we cannot take. They may cost a little more if they need special care. See appliance removal.
